Reflecting on the 142nd Season at Dougherty Orchards & Winery

As the season ends, we want to take a moment to reflect on our 142nd season and say thank you. Each year reminds us of the people who make this place special - our hardworking staff and all of you, our orchard community. From families creating memories in the orchard, to kids picking out pumpkins, to longtime friends returning year after year for live concerts, your support keeps traditions alive. And it’s what helps Dougherty Orchards going strong as Indiana’s oldest family-operated orchards.

This season gave us beautiful summer nights, colorful harvest days, and plenty of laughter and fun that could be heard throughout the orchard. We loved seeing your photos, hearing your stories, and sharing in the joy of your Dougherty Orchards & Winery visits. Your visits help support our 7th-generation family farm, and we love being part of your traditions.

In the petting farm, kids (and adults!) light up with joy when they meet goats, llamas, and other furry and feathered friends. The flower farm and gardens burst with color, offering lavender and sunflowers for you to stroll through and take home. Our butterfly garden has become a beautiful retreat. In the winery, we gathered to sip and enjoy handcrafted wines and bourbons. In the evenings, the orchard came alive with line dancing and live music under the stars.

As we look back on the past months, we’re filled with gratitude. The simple moments like apple picking and enjoying warm cider donuts are the ones we’ll cherish as we head into the off-season.

From all of us at Dougherty Orchards, thank you for letting us be part of your story this summer and fall. We look forward to welcoming you back next year for more apple-picking, wine-sipping, music-listening, and memory-making. Until then, may your holidays be sweet and your new year full of abundance!
