Get ready to experience the best of autumn at Dougherty Orchards & Winery! We've compiled a quick guide packed with essential tips, exciting updates, and even some insider secrets to help you make the most of your fall visit.
We enjoy seeing smiling faces all week long. Fridays are busy for our Free Friday Nights, and Thursdays are ideal for quieter days at the orchard. The crowds are smaller, and you can stay awhile without the weekend hustle. Our full food menu is available too, so come hungry and stay for lunch or dinner with a view.
Apple and Pumpkin Picking
We’re just as excited about the apple picking season as you are! Due to some frost damage earlier this year, apple picking will be very limited starting around Labor Day weekend. We'll post regular updates on Facebook so you know what’s available before you head out. Be sure to follow us to stay in the loop.
Pumpkin picking kicks off around mid-September, and you’ll be able to head out to the field and find your perfect pumpkin straight from the vine.
Don’t feel like picking your own? No problem - we’ll have a beautiful selection of both apples and pumpkins available in the orchard store. The store is filled with fall favorites, from fresh produce and seasonal gifts to baked goods and our signature wines and ciders.
Dougherty’s Petting Farm
The petting farm is open daily. This beloved, family-friendly experience is popular for both kids and adults. Visitors can stroll the pathways that wind around the pond, home to koi fish and curious free-range ducks. Meet and interact with a variety of friendly farm and exotic animals, including goats, sheep, alpacas, miniature donkeys, and more. You’ll have the chance to feed and pet many of the animals.
Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for kids.
Visit the Flower Fields
This year’s heavy rains have made things a little tricky for our sunflower field. While we won’t have a full sea of sunflowers like in past years, we’ll still have some blooming beauties, along with a garden of dahlias and other you-pick flowers. It's still a perfect spot for taking photos and picking flowers. Just a reminder that there is a $25 photographer fee for full photo shoots.
Tips for the Best Orchard Visit
● Wear comfy shoes. You’ll be walking on grass, dirt, and maybe a little mud.
● Open rain or shine. Unless the weather is severe, our outdoor activities (including pick-your-own, the petting farm, and the garden) stay open rain or shine. Just bring your boots and a jacket.
● Check our Facebook page before visiting for daily updates on availability and weather.
● When picking, check inside the tree and down low. Apples aren’t just on the outside of the trees.
● Come hungry! From apple donuts to our new pizza oven, you’ll want to try it all.
● Give yourself time to explore. Visiting Dougherty Orchard is an experience filled with photo opportunities and activities.
Fall fun is calling, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Dougherty Orchards & Winery.
